We are excited to announce the continuation of Reading Rocks! at Holly Ridge Elementary. This program is open to all 1-5 students who wish to participate. Here is how it works...
1. Students read a book. They are taking at least one book out of the library every week so
they might as well read it and participate. The book can be from the public library, home,
classroom or HRES library.
2. Get a Reading Rocks! sheet from the library, classroom, or print one from here, (link for the
sheets; K-2 or 3-5 is above).
3. Fill out the entire paper, circle the genre of book at the bottom, bring it to the library and
place it in the black box.
4. Each student participating will get a Reading Rocks! punch card with one hole punched after
their first submission.
5. When they complete another sheet, they take their card (attached to the new paper), and
put it in the black box.
a. The 4th book will get the student a prize
b. The 8th book will get the student another prize
c. The twelfth book will get the student a grand prize, name added to the Reading Rocks!
Wall of Fame and name announced on the HRES morning news. We had 24 Grand Prize
Winners last year!
6. Students can continue the program for 3 rounds of 12 and continue to get prizes.
